The Anti-Hazing Act of 1995, also known as Republic Act No. 8049 is a national legislation in the Philippines regulating the act of hazing and other initiation rites in fraternities and sororities in the country. It prohibits and penalizes physical harm and violence in such practices.
Hazing has no place in APO today. Alpha Phi Omega Philippines has denounced all violent practices and has mandated an anti-hazing policy for its chapters. Undenied but regretted “traditions” of the past has taught us that violence only leads to more violence and creates members with distorted “loyalty”. Today we build loyalty by establishing trust and respect between members and Pledges (neophytes) through positive & reciprocal brotherhood building activities.
